Spanning six months of creation, Beyond Me became the artist's longest and most ambitious piece at that time. Completed on New Year’s Eve (2018/2019), the artist experienced a profound sense that the painting was beyond his previous skill and imagination, as if the work had emerged from a place beyond his conscious reach; he said it was "beyond me."
